Sunday saw the return of the Menangle Park Mini Trotting Club kids and ponies – with a few new faces – to begin the new season of racing at Club Menangle.
The turn out saw the return of club regulars: Milla Sutton (Fireblaze), Abby Sanderson (Storm Chaser), Mackenzie Gallagher (Crystal Ball), Jayla Beresford (Alvin & Zena Zara), Mason Beresford (Pay The Aces), Anna Shephard (Sweet Chilly Willy) and Zara Fitzpatrick (new pony and former QLD’er Alfies Over).
We were thrilled to see little Lily McCarthy come back for her second trial and officially join our club with her new pony, seasoned performer from QLD ‘Sparkling Star’; or ‘Pugsley’ as he’s affectionately known to the kids. Lily and Pugsley made a great team, the pony not putting a foot wrong and a smile so big from Lily she took it to school with her the next day, along with a few photos to show her classmates!
All the kids handled their ponies well for their trials, taking turns at different starting positions and working well together to maneuver their ponies safely on track. Zara handled her new pony Alfie skillfully; Alfie being a bit quicker on his feet than Zara’s previous pony Ollie on Fire.
Another new addition to the Menangle Park pony ranks is ‘Zena Zara’ for David Morris and Steph Lippiatt; Zena getting some miles under her belt with Jayla taking the reins before David and Steph’s son Riley hops in the bike when he’s old enough!
We head back to racing at Menangle on October 12th, the nights’ racing to be sponsored by Theresa Park Haulage. We look forward to seeing everyone back on track for a busy season of racing. Please see our club facebook page for race dates, noms close the Sunday prior by 5.30pm sharp.
