Newcastle Maitland Club hosted a Carnival of Cups meeting as part of Newcastle Harness Mile night. The night was also in honour of the past Newcastle club CEO Ross Gigg who was a great supporter of mini trots in the region.
Night got underway with the backmarker Double O Seven coming with a well timed run for Grace Campbell to defeat Tamworth visitor Mr Rocket Fuel driven by Rylee Kiddle while Zach Wiggins brought Your Kiddin Me home for third.
Second event saw an improved effort by Cherry Bomb for Olivia Moy to defeat Your Kiddin Me while Chase Em Ace finished third for Team Cassar. Buttercup for Will Ilsley held a commanding lead halfway down the straight and look for him to pinch a win soon with his bold front running displays.
Final event of the night saw Major Jiba take out the event driven by Isabella Cassar. The consistent Your Kiddin Me again finished second for Zach Wiggins holding off the stable mate Rushin Gold driven by Rowan Wiggins. Smokey Bear (Ashton Wiggins) finished just behind the placegetters.
Tamworth reinsman drove That’s Oro who will show the benefit of the run while Harrison Wiggins drove Little Squirt, who has been driven by a number of new comers to the sport will return home to his owner who has been kind enough to loan him to mini trots. Thanks Janine.
