With the NRL Rugby League season only weeks away favourite football jumpers will replace traditional racing silks when Newcastle Maitland Mini Trot Club host a Footy Fever Night at Newcastle Paceway this Friday 13th January.
Harness racing enthusiast, Parramatta NRL Clubman of the year and tipped to take out eligible bachelor of the year award, Luke Sammut will sneak into enemy Newcastle Knight territory with prizes for the mini trot participants courtesy of Parramatta Football Club.

Many of the current ponies will carry alias names in support of present and past player of the Parramatta Club with the one of the feature events being the Legends race with names such as, THE PRICE IS RIGHT, THE EARLY CROW, THREE DAY GROTHE, THE ZIP ZIP MAN, WALLY WYNN, BEAR O'REILLY, BERT'S DOUBLES, SUPER COACH, HINDY'S SHORTS, CAPTAIN CAYLESS, FUUUUIIIIIIII, CRAMP IT UP KENNY AND CLUB MAN MANNAH. Participants on the night will compete on a point score system on events held throughout the night to see who win the much sought after Luke Sammut Appreciation Trophy to be presented by the great man himself.
Newcastle Harness have an attractive 9 event programme starting at 6.33 pm and mini trotters will compete between events throughout the night.
